TITLE OF WORK

MS Lamp By Ryan Lauderdale

ABOUT THE WORK

Assembled from such disparate sources as mall architecture, late 1970s Italian lighting design, CAD renderings, and sci-fi cinema set design; M S Lamp is a reliquary of past forms. Made of birch plywood and plastic laminate, the piece is a domestic-sized formation of 20th century aspirational ideals housed in a synthetic, inhuman and almost digital contemporary setting. The result is an empty and perhaps skeptical totem to the possible futures espoused by modernism, consumerism and individualism.
